Barr Ryder Architects began an on-going contract with BMO Financial in 2001 to provide design and construction services for new and existing Northern Alberta Bank of Montreal branches. The first and most unique of these projects was the Fort McMurray branch. This two-storey building features a two-storey glazed atrium lobby with an exposed concrete elevator shaft wrapped by a stainless steel and glass-finished open stairwell. The recognizable corporate images associated with BMO were incorporated in the design. It is located on a prominent street in Fort McMurray and stands as one of the most visible and attractive buildings in that city.
