New Staff Residence and Medical Services Facility
Whitehorse, Yukon

In April of 2009, Barr Ryder Architects & Interior Designers was commissioned to undertake bridging consulting services for the New Staff Residence and Medical Services Facility in Whitehorse, Yukon.

The intent of this project was to replace the existing Whitehorse General Hospital Mountainside Apartments with a New Staff Residence and Medical Services Facility. The new facility which is constructed on the Whitehorse General Hospital site is 39,750 sq. ft., 3 storey facility with residential apartment units on the upper floors and a “shell” medical services area on the main floor.

The facility contains 32 residential units consisting of studio and one bedroom apartments. Approximately 13,750 sq. ft. of the facility is allocated for medical services along with storage, support spaces for mechanical, electrical and building maintenance storage requirements.

As bridging consultant, Barr Ryder Architects was the liaison between the Yukon Hospital Corporation and the Design-Build Contractor.
